The Fv5957 runs 3.8 kilometres in tunnel from Giske to Godøya in Møre og Romsdal. The Giske link with its bridges was finished in 1987, and Godøya was tied into it when this tunnel opened in 1989.

When it opened, the Godøy tunnel was Norway's deepest road tunnel, with its deepest point 153 metres below sea level. The steepest gradient is 10 percent.

Godøya has no other way in, and the road on to the Alnes lighthouse and back towards Ålesund goes through the same link. When it closes the island is cut off from the world, so check the status before you drive.
